Pat Sajak took some heat from fuming Wheel of Fortune fans who claimed he misheard a contestant when he ruled her answer incorrect during Wednesday night’s (May 3) episode of the hit game show.
Neetu Varshney — a teacher and STEM supervisor for New Jersey’s Clark public school system — was playing in the second “Toss Up” puzzle when the questionable calling occurred. She took a shot at the riddle by responding, “In a moment’s notice,” however, Sajak told her she was incorrect.
Contestant Jeremy Manos went on to correctly answer “at a moment’s notice,” which earned him $2,000.
“Almost got it, but it’s: ‘at a moment’s notice,’” the longtime host told Varshney.
In the end, Manos walked away in first place with $49,618, while Varshney only took home $1,000.
Meanwhile, fans of the show angrily called out Sajak as they believed Varshney said the right answer but was misheard by the host.
“@patsajak you heard Neetu wrong 2x,” one wrote. “Ask her yourself what she said. We all heard the correct response. I bet the other 2 contestants did too. Shame shame shame.”
“Neetu got screwed!! Clean your ears, Pat!!” another fumed, while a third person added, “Neetu deserved that puzzle win @WheelofFortune #wheeloffortune she definitely said ‘At a moment’s notice.’”
Someone else posted, “Neetu answered correctly. she has an accent @WheelofFortune she deserves another episode.” Si amas una flor, no la recojas. Porque si lo haces ésta morirá y dejara de ser lo que amas. Entonces si amas una flor déjala ser. El amor no se trata de posesión. El amor se trata de apreciación

“I’m a huge fan of @WheelofFortune and @patsajak but last night’s episode was a total failure,” another pointed out. “Contestant Neetu was called wrong incorrectly on two guesses and I’m sure it was due to her accent. Just waiting to see her invite back.”
One fan chimed in, “NEETU LEGIT SAID TWO PUZZLES CORRECTLY AND YALL TOLD HER SHE WAS WRONG. ITS HER ACCENT— BOTH PUZZLES SHE WAS CORRECT ON!!! Y’all robbed her, that ain’t right at all.”
Someone else noted, “NEETU got robbed on that puzzle solve! Booo.”
