Duchess Silk looks beautiful cosplaying as Elizabeth Bennet from the classic Pride and Prejudice and here's what she had to say...
'It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.'
The opening line of Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' always makes me laugh. A novel about manners, marriage, wits, love, the drawbacks of fast judgement, and ensuring one's financial future, I've always wanted toplay the determined and outspoken Elizabeth Bennet, a most singular literary protagonist.
The novel is set in the Regency era, so it took a time for me to find the right dress. This one is far from historically accurate, but it made me feel like a woman with a full dance card at the Netherfield Ball, and so is very special to me. The reticule I sewed myself, which made me very proud (and not at all prejudiced).
